Position Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Sr. Technical Writer to join our healthcare organization. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive product documentation for our suite of healthcare solutions. Your primary focus will be to create accurate and user-friendly documentation that supports healthcare professionals, administrators, and end-users in effectively using our products for utilization by providers, payers, MSOs, and public health organizations. This role requires exceptional technical writing and communication skills as well as experience providing guidance, mentorship, and expertise to other technical writers on the team.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with product managers, subject matter experts, and development teams to gather product information, understand features and functionalities, and obtain necessary input for documentation creation.
- Create a variety of product documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, release notes, technical specifications, FAQs, and online help systems, following industry best practices and standards.
- Ensure that product documentation complies with regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA, and reflects the latest updates and enhancements to our healthcare solutions.
- Help to establish and maintain a centralized documentation repository, organizing content effectively and implementing version control processes to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Regularly review and update existing documentation to ensure relevancy, accuracy, and consistency with product updates and changes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, marketing, success, and support, to ensure consistent and coherent messaging across all customer touchpoints.
- Stay abreast of healthcare industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in healthcare to continually improve and enhance our documentation practices.
- Train and mentor documentation team members, providing guidance on best practices, writing standards, and effective documentation techniques.

Product
- Develop solution guides that provide an overview of our healthcare solutions, their key features, and how they address specific healthcare challenges or workflows (GUIDES).
- Create integration documentation that outlines the integration process of the healthcare solution with existing systems or electronic health record (EHR) platforms (DOCS).
- Prepare detailed implementation guides that provide step-by-step instructions for deploying and configuring our healthcare solutions within different healthcare environments (GUIDES).
- Develop training materials, such as user manuals, interactive tutorials, or video guides, to educate healthcare professionals and end-users on how to effectively use our healthcare solutions (TRAIN).
- Compile release notes and change logs that provide updates on new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and known issues with each release (RELEASENOTES).
- Create documentation to support customer service teams in addressing common questions, issues, and troubleshooting scenarios related to our healthcare solution (GUIDES).
- Help to ensure effective document management practices, including version control, document review processes, and documentation templates.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards by creating documentation that demonstrates how the healthcare solution meets industry-specific requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as technical writing, communication, or healthcare informatics. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- 15 years of experience in product documentation management, technical writing, or a similar role within the healthcare industry.
- Solid understanding of healthcare operations, terminology, and technology, including electronic health records (EHR), healthcare information exchange (HIE), and interoperability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to simplify complex information for various user groups.
- Proficiency in documentation tools and technologies, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Confluence, Paligo, or content management systems (CMS)
- Develop familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards in the healthcare industry, such as HIPAA, HL7, or DICOM.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of user-centered design principles and usability testing methodologies to create documentation that meets end-user needs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to review, interpret, and synthesize technical information from various sources.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to manage and work effectively with cross-functional teams consisting of offshore and contract writers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to gather information and ensure accurate documentation.
