Position Summary

Zyter Inc., a fast-paced leader in the Healthcare technology product space, is seeking a seasoned Sr. Enterprise Platform Architect with deep expertise in cloud software engineering and interoperability within the healthcare payer ecosystem. We are seeking a strategic and hands-on software architect to lead the evolution of our enterprise platforms through cloud-native, secure, and AI-infused architectures. This role requires deep experience bridging legacy systems and modern microservices, while moving quickly to support AI innovation, client demands, and product roadmap acceleration.

You will lead cross-functional architecture in collaboration with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Customer Success and work directly with Fortune 50 enterprise architects. You will also partner with our AI prototyping team to rapidly operationalize POCs into scalable, maintainable solutions.

This is not a theoretical architecture role. We are looking for a builder who can design with speed, work in ambiguity, and deliver real impact. This role is ideal for an architect who blends pragmatic speed with strategic foresight, someone who can build modern, cloud-native, AI-infused systems without overengineering, and who sees architecture as a business enabler, not a theory exercise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect both monolithic and cloud-native platforms, with clear pathways for modularization, modernization, and interoperability
  • Support AI prototyping efforts by reviewing early-stage POCs and translating validated concepts into production-ready architectural patterns in collaboration with Product and Engineering
  • Lead the Cloud Architecture Review Board, ensuring technical alignment, enforceable standards, and delivery-focused governance
  • Define and implement an agile, fit-for-purpose architecture operating model that enables rapid iteration and platform scalability
  • Collaborate with domain-specific architects (AI, Security, Infrastructure, Data) to ensure a cohesive enterprise technology strategy
  • Guide product and platform architecture using modern patterns: REST-based APIs, microservices, containers, event-driven workflows
  • Architect for end-to-end observability, including logging, tracing, and performance monitoring
  • Ensure platform-level resilience and fault tolerance, incorporating failover strategies, retry logic, and graceful degradation patterns
  • Partner with Infrastructure and FinOps to embed cost-efficiency and elasticity into architecture, including capacity planning and resource optimization
  • Enhance developer experience (DevEx) through reusable patterns, templates, and architectural scaffolding that enables fast and secure delivery
  • Deliver architectural assets as products — reusable SDKs, reference implementations, platform services that scale across engineering teams
  • Work directly with enterprise customers’ architecture teams to validate integration and platform extension strategies

Required Experience and Skills

  • 15+ years of total experience in software engineering and architecture
  • 5+ years in architecture leadership roles
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related technical discipline
  • Proven ability to design and evolve cloud-native, modular, and API-driven platforms
  • Experience bridging legacy monoliths with microservices and containerized workloads
  • Strong capability to establish agile, iterative architecture models that drive fast delivery and avoid heavy enterprise frameworks
  • Operational experience running or contributing to a cloud architecture review board
  • Practical experience implementing agentic AI or orchestrating LLM-based solutions
  • Hands-on experience with AWS or other public cloud providers, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence internal stakeholders and external enterprise architects
  • Deep understanding of secure development, regulatory readiness, and performance engineering at scale
  • Experience across multiple tech stacks or platform transformations
  • Demonstrated success working with Fortune 50 payer clients (e.g., Anthem/Elevance, UnitedHealth Group, CVS/Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Centene)
  • Deep familiarity with payer operations including claims lifecycle, eligibility and enrollment, provider network management, and member engagement workflows
  • Strong proficiency in cloud architectures (Azure, AWS, or GCP), API management, event streaming, and secure data exchange mechanisms
  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder engagement skills; able to align software architecture decisions with business and compliance priorities
  • You must have a “can do” attitude – willingness to accept challenges & solve problems

Payer-Focused Interoperability Architecture:

This role requires deep technical leadership in building and scaling interoperability capabilities across Fortune 50 payer organizations. The ideal candidate will have experience aligning enterprise platforms with CMS interoperability mandates, designing FHIR API frameworks, and integrating real-time and batch data flows across claims, enrollment, provider, and care domains. Proficiency in API management, bulk data exchange, and secure payer-to-payer and third-party connectivity is essential. A strong understanding of regulatory, security, and member data protection requirements—combined with platform expertise in systems like Facets, QNXT, and HealthEdge—will enable successful delivery of interoperable, compliant, and scalable solutions across the enterprise.

Security & Compliance Alignment:

This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare regulatory frameworks, including HIPAA, HITRUST, CMS Final Rule, FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST and state-specific mandates. The architect will ensure that software and interoperability solutions align with Zero Trust principles, leverage least-privilege access models, and maintain appropriate auditability, encryption, and data segmentation controls. Experience designing architectures that meet payer data retention policies, access control requirements, and multi-tenant security in cloud environments is critical. Familiarity with compliance integration into DevSecOps pipelines and third-party data exchange risk assessments is strongly preferred.

What Success Looks Like:

  • POCs from the AI team are rapidly transitioned into runtime-ready, scalable services
  • The cloud architecture review board is trusted and action-oriented, not ceremonial
  • Architecture is tightly aligned with product and engineering priorities, not theory
  • Platform is secure, extensible, observable, and respected by internal and external stakeholders
  • The organization can move faster with higher confidence due to architecture that enables speed and reduces friction

The Sr. Enterprise Platform Architect will play a key role in delivering measurable impact across product, operational efficiency and regulatory alignment, working closely with business stakeholders and transformation leaders.
