Position Summary
Zyter|TruCare is seeking a seasoned Senior SQL Database Engineer to join our enterprise Care Management software development team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design, optimization, and administration of high-performance SQL Server databases, ensuring robust data integrity, security, and scalability. Your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing our platform's data architecture and supporting the seamless integration of complex data workflows. Reporting to the Lead Database Architect, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative database solutions that meet the dynamic needs of our healthcare clients.
Key Responsibilities
Database Architecture & Design: Lead the design and implementation of efficient and scalable database structures, including data modeling, schema design, and normalization, to support application requirements and performance standards.
SQL Query Optimization: Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to enhance data retrieval times, reduce system load, and support real-time analytics.
Performance Monitoring & Tuning: Continuously monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and apply tuning techniques such as indexing, query optimization, and resource allocation to maintain optimal system performance.
Database Administration & Security: Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and security protocols to safeguard data integrity and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Data Integration & ETL Processes: Develop and maintain ETL workflows using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to facilitate seamless data migration and integration across systems.
Automation & Scripting: Automate routine database maintenance tasks using T-SQL scripts, PowerShell, or other automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
Collaboration & Code Reviews: Work closely with software developers and other stakeholders to ensure database solutions are effectively integrated into applications. Participate in code reviews to maintain coding standards and best practices.
Documentation & Standards: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database designs, processes, and procedures. Develop and enforce database coding standards to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
Client Interaction: Engage with internal and external clients to understand their data requirements, provide technical support, and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
Required Experience and Skills
Proven experience in creating and implementing database upgrade strategies, particularly using Liquibase.
Proficiency in programming languages other than T-SQL, with a preference for Hibernate and Java.
Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing tools such as SSRS, SSAS, Jasperserver, and R.
Possession of relevant Microsoft SQL Server certifications.
Preferred Skills
- Extensive experience in SQL Server development, including writing and tuning complex SQL queries.
- In-depth knowledge of database design principles and best practices.
- Experience with various versions of SQL Server, including Standard and Enterprise editions of 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2019.
- Strong understanding of SQL Server security, performance monitoring, and optimization techniques.
- Plan, test, and execute safe modifications to production database environments during software upgrade cycles.
- Experience in developing and executing complex SSIS packages.
- Familiarity with software ecosystem tools such as GIT, Bitbucket, Stash, and SVN.
- Ability to thrive in a start-up environment, demonstrating versatility and adaptability.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
