Why this role
Lead the function that brings Zyter’s AI technology to life for clients. Sitting at the intersection of Product, Transformation, and Pre-Sales, the Director of Forward Deployed Engineering drives the hands-on deployment, configuration, and operationalization of the Symphony Suite across payer and government programs. Reporting to the Vice President, Strategy & Transformation, you will build and lead a high-performing team of Forward Deployed Engineers to design, deploy, and scale AI-enabled workflows that deliver measurable business outcomes. This is a high-visibility, cross-functional role for a technically fluent leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, can translate between business and engineering, and is energized by building teams, frameworks, and repeatable playbooks from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Build the FDE organization: Define structure, hiring plan, career paths, and rituals; set a high bar for technical depth and client-facing excellence.
- Own the deployment framework: Create reference architectures, configuration standards, runbooks, and pilot→scale playbooks for Symphony implementations.
- Deliver client outcomes: Lead solution design, integrations, and environment stand-up (cloud, security, data pipelines); ensure SLAs/SLOs are met post-go-live.
- Partner across Zyter: Align with Strategy, AI, and Product to operationalize platform capabilities and the AI agent marketplace; with Transformation/Delivery to compress timelines and de-risk change.
- Scale repeatability: Convert learnings into reusable modules, accelerators, and automation (IaC, CI/CD, observability).
- Guide pre-sales for complex pursuits: Shape technical approach, demo environments, and success criteria for POCs/pilots; ensure what we sell can be implemented cleanly.
- Champion security & compliance: Embed HIPAA/HITRUST/SOC2 practices into architectures, deployments, and ops runbooks.
- Develop talent: Coach FDEs on solution architecture, client presence, and operational rigor; foster a culture of documentation, testing, and continuous improvement.
- Represent Zyter externally: Engage with client executives and partners; provide clear, outcome-oriented technical narratives.
- Evolve the RECODE methodology: Refine frameworks, accelerators, and value-measurement models; institutionalize best practices across programs.
- Oversee multi-account transformation delivery: Ensure consistency, quality, and measurable outcomes across engagements; act as executive transformation sponsor for strategic clients.
- Institutionalize value realization: Link every deployment to financial, operational, and experience metrics; publish playbooks and governance mechanisms.
- Thought leadership: Showcase RECODE + Symphony success stories at industry forums and in strategic communications.
Qualifications
- 10–15 years leading engineering, solution architecture, or platform deployment for SaaS/AI products; track record building forward-deployed or professional services teams and/or running large transformation programs.
- Proven success deploying complex software in payer, provider, or public-sector environments—from discovery and pilot to scaled operations—with measured outcomes.
- Deep hands-on fluency with APIs/integration patterns, cloud architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP), data pipelines, and securing enterprise workloads.
- Working knowledge of AI/automation workflows and healthcare interoperability (FHIR/HL7/X12); familiarity with HIPAA and enterprise security controls.
- Transformation leadership: Experience guiding multi-functional (consulting + technical) teams, facilitating design sessions with VP/C-suite, and evolving methodologies/accelerators with governance and value tracking.
- Strong communicator with executive presence; adept at translating between product strategy, engineering constraints, and business outcomes.
- Leadership style that blends strategic direction with hands-on credibility; comfortable building frameworks and teams from zero-to-one and beyond.
- Preferred: Background at platform delivery or transformation organizations (e.g., Palantir, AWS Professional Services, Slalom Build, C3.ai, Deloitte Digital) and experience compressing time-to-value with reusable accelerators
